Silver Deathlayer (Westfälische Totleger)
The German Deathlayer, or to give it its correct name, the Westfälische Totleger acquired its wonderful name by dialect confusion. Dauerleger (Daylayer) morphed into Totleger (Deathlayer) as the breed moved south through the country.
Slightly duller than the other theory that they were so named as they lay an egg a day until the day they die! Not only is the name fabulous but these birds are stunning too with their wonderful pencilled feather patterns, tight cushion comb and beautiful black doll eyes. Active and inquisitive, these birds love to free range and are very hardy.
Available in silver as growers and point of lay. The golds are a plan for next year!
