Bresse de Gauloise
This year, we are delighted to be able to offer the Bresse de Gauloise. A traditional French breed, it is very popular in France as the hens are good layers and the meat is renowned for its flavour.
The birds are white with blue legs and the hens lay an average of 160-200 large white eggs per year. If you want to keep hens but find the global practice of culling young males unsavoury then the Bresse is for you! The males can live a happy life until maturity and are then perfect for the pot weighing in at approximately 7-8lbs. You know that your birds have lived a good life and have hopefully fertilised a few eggs along the way making your meal sustainable too. Going back to the old days of chicken keeping!
